The Petroleum Regulatory Division was established on January 1^st, 2020 as a result of the organizational restructuring of KPDN to regulate applications for permission to initiate or continue any business of marketing or distribution of petroleum substance or petroleum products under Section 6 (3) of the Petroleum Development Act 1974.

Petroleum substance or petroleum products for the purposes of Regulation 3A (2) are subject to the list as stated at the following link:

Regulating application for permission to commence or continue any business of marketing or distribution of petroleum substance or petroleum products.

i. Regulate the distribution and marketing activities of petroleum products permitted under the Petroleum Development Act 1974.

ii. To consider and approve applications for subsidized diesel (skid tank) under the Diesel Subsidy Approval Committee (JKSD).

iii. Consider and approve applications for approval for the purchase of subsidized diesel using ‘multiple fleetcard’ under the Subsidized Diesel Control System (SKDS).

iv. Manage meetings of the Committee to Consider & Approve Applications under Section 21 (1) and Section 22 of the Exclusive Economic Zones Act, 1984 [Act 311] (JKZEE).

v. To study and examine the application for approval of the proposed development site for a new petrol station, Portable Container System (PCS), and other new supply concepts under the New Petrol Station Development Committee (JPSM).

vi. Regulate applications for the export of diesel petroleum products, RON 95 petrol, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) abroad.
